ACSSY has a mentor/mentee program where current Chinese students or post-docs can volunteer to serve as guiders or "mentors" to incoming Chinese students or scholars. The purpose for this program is to help new comers to get acquainted with the new environment smoothly.

Mentors are expected to answer any questions that the new students/scholars have about Yale or New Haven before they come, to teach them valuable living skills such as where to buy food and clothes, how to get a driver's license, how to open a bank account, and to take them for grocery shopping during the first weeks they get here. Mentors are NOT expected to provide new students/scholars with a place to live or to pick them up from the airport.

After we match a mentor/mentee pair, we will send emails to both of them so that they can start communicating with each other during the summer. It is up the mentor/mentee when and where to meet after the students/scholars arrive at Yale.

If you are an incoming student/scholar, please fill in the following form no later than Aug. 28th, 2009. If you are willing to serve as a mentor, please fill in the following form at any time.
