Earthquake Relief Donation-5

After one week donation drive, ACSSY has raised close $25,000USD. Local Chinese community is going to have following fund raising and earthquake relief-related activities during incoming weekend.

(1) Time: May 24^th , Saturday, 10am-4pm, on site donation

Location: HongKong Grocery, new site

Note: ACSSY accepts cash and checks for donations. Please make your check payable to ACSSY, for “Earthquake Relief Donation”.

(2) Time: May 25^th , Sunday, 3pm-4pm, Earth quake relief benefit concert

*By the afternoon of May18th, ACSSY has received donations of $8753.95USD.

The earthquake in Sichuan, China has caused 30,000 deaths, 200,000 injured till May 18th. Nearly 10 million people are affected by this disaster.ACSSY will set up donation boxes around Yale campus next week. Let's do our best to help the victims of the earthquake.

Candlelight Vigil for the China Earthquake Victims
 
TIME: 8:00pm to 10pm, Monday, May 19, 2008
LOCATION: Cross Campus lawn, Yale University (in front of Sterling Memorial Library)
LI Mo (mo.li [at] yale.edu) will be incharge of the event.

 

NOTE:
1. Try to bring your own candles and matches (some will be provided on site);
2. Please dress in dark;
3. We will accept check and cash donation on site. All donations would first be promptly transferred to the Chinese Consulate General.

On the afternoon of May 12, 2008, an earthquake measuring magnitude 7.9 hit Sichuan Province, a mountainous region in Western China. Till now, the death toll is 19,509 and could reach 50,000. Hundreds of thousands are injured and homeless.  More than 20 million people are severely affected.

Our hearts are with them.
Our dear friend, please join us with your sorrow and love. Let's get together to pray, to mourn, and to bless the victims in the devastating earthquake.

Xu Hai (hai.xu [at] yale.edu, 203-772-9738) and Wang Yan (y.wang[at]yale.edu, 203-606-2736) will be in charge of the event.

ACSSY accepts cash and checks for donations. Please make your check payable to ACSSY, for “Earthquake Relief Donation”.
We will play some homemade slides, music, and the news program from CCTV(2hrs long, from May14th 8am-10am news program). We will distribute our posters indicating following events as well as information flyers for people who are less familiar with current situation in Sichuan.
