1. Why there are two email lists?
The Google groups email list is for public information. You can send messages to members of that email list instantly. It is used for advertisements such as selling, buying, moving, riding, looking for nanny, and any other emails that you want to send to the Yale and Greater New Haven Chinese community. ACSSY official email list is for ACSSY official announcements. By subscribe either or both of the email list, one can choose to receive either only public emails or ACSSY official announcements or both. This should meet the needs of everyone.
Getting On and Off the List
2. How do I subscribe the lists?
For Google groups email list, go to http://groups.google.com/group/yalechinese, and follow the directions on that page. For ACSSY official email list, just fill in the form on the top of the page, enter your email address and name you want to appear on the list, select "subscribe" button, then submit your request. Normally, you'll receive a confirmation email from ACSSY IT group in a few minutes. After that you'll receive every email that has been sent to the group.
3. I don't want more e-mail. How do I unsubscribe the list?
To unsubscribe the Google groups email list, go to http://groups.google.com/group/yalechinese, and follow the directions on that page.
We strongly recommend that you stay on the ACSSY official email list, because that is the major way for us to contact our members for important information. But if you really want to unsubscribe, enter your email and name on the top of the page, select the "unsubscribe" button and submit your request. Soon you'll get the confirmation email about unsubscribing successfully.
4. I couldn't unsubscribe the list by method provided in Answer 2, what should I do?
Please contact ACSSY IT group, we'll unsubscribe you manually in two business days.
5. My email address just changed. What should I do?
You should simply unsubscribe your old email box and subscribe your new email box.

6. How can I send an email message to my fellow members?
We do not forward public emails to our official email list to respect those who do not want to receive them. To send a massage to the Google email list, go to http://groups.google.com/group/yalechinese, and follow the directions on that page.
Safety First
7. Is there any possible risk to receive emails from the list?
For the Google email list, use common sense. ACSSY is not responsible for any circumstances resulted from using that email list. ACSSY official email list if for ACSSY official emails only. No spam or virus should be sent out to this list. However, this may not always be the truth, especially for viruses. You are responsible to opening any attachment or dangerous link in the list email by yourself.
8. Why my email to acssy@yale.edu was not forwarded to the list?
A majority of the ACSSY members voted NOT to forward public emails to the list. We respect them. If you want to send an email to fellow members, please use our Google email list.
9. What Will You Do With My Email Address?
ACSSY takes your privacy seriously. We will not sell, rent, or loan our list to anyone for any reason. We are committed to simply providing you a pleasant platform to communicate with each other.
