Airport pickup Picked up over 30 Chinese Students/Scholars From New York Airports on Aug. 18, 2006 and Aug. 25, 2006. 4. New Students Orientation Dinner Organized a dinner party in HHH for new and returning students to meet. About 50 students attended. 5. Shopping weekend 8/26/06 Organized a shopping trip to Hamden Plaza for new students and scholars. 6. Welcome BBQ 9/9/06 BBQ party at Lighthouse park. 150 people participated. 7. Mentor/mentee Program Created opportunity for new students to find returning students/ scholars as mentors. 8. Revised ACSSY email system Created Yale Chinese Google email list for public emails. ACSSY official email list became for official use only. 9. ACSSY clubs Established/revived ACSSY clubs, including ballroom dancing, butterfly dancing, Chinese chorus, soccer, volleyball, basket ball, badminton, ping-pong clubs, and Chinese School. Volleyball club participated MIT tournament. 10. Tours Organized tours to Niagara Falls/Thousand Island, Vermont/Boston, and Philadelphia/Washington, DC. A total of 160 persons participated. 11. Chinese School party Supported Yale/New Haven Chinese School New Year Party. 12. Fujian Fellows gathering Supported Fujian Fellows gathering to appreciate Fujian cuisine. 13. End of academic year/Graduation party Organized a party for leaving students to meet with friends. Provided Chinese food. KaraOK and dance followed. Around 100 students/scholars attended. B. Strategic Choices in Developing an Innovative Country President of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Professor Li Lianshui gave a presentation on China's efforts to develop into a more innovative country. 9. China's Environmental Crisis and Public Participation Journalist Wang Yongchen talked about China's Environmental Crisis and Public Participation. 10. China's Flagship Role in Conservation Lv zhi, Prefessor from Peking University and Director of Conservation International China Office talked about China's flagship role in conservation. D. Others 1. Helped Fawn Wang of Yale Office of International Affairs organize Chinese students and scholars gatherings across campus. 2. Advocated an expanded airport pick-up program.
